Learning Disabilities: A Parent's Perspective and a Child's Perspective. How Can I Explain a Learning Disability to my Child? (ages 8 – 17)

Learning disabilities affect children at school, home and in the community. We will explore the definition of a learning disability and the major cognitive processing areas (e.g. attention, memory, processing speed) that contribute to challenges in reading, writing and math.  We will also review strategies for talking with your child about learning disabilities and ways your child can advocate for help and support in school.
